Spring Cleaning: Include Your Car!
Spring is just around the corner, and a lot of you must be prepping for your annual spring cleaning session. As you dust up your home, it’s equally important to clean your car as well to make sure it’s shiny for the new season. Here are a few tips on spring cleaning your car.
Start with the interiors – The first thing you need to do is address the interiors. Clean out all the cup holders and seat covers and throw away receipts and other trash like cups and bags that have collected over time. Then, use a fine soft brush to take off the dust from the seats, ventilation areas, seat cushions, and all other nooks and crannies. Vacuum the interiors thoroughly and then organize the items you do need, like your sunglasses, documents, and the like. Put in a new air freshener to make your cabin smell clean and fresh.
Use a stiff brush for the carpets and mats – A lot of grime tends to build upon the carpets and mats of vehicles during the winter. Deep cleaning is necessary to have them looking as good as new. Use a stiff brush to loosen the dirt and debris trapped in the fibers. Once you loosen the dirt with a brush, use a vacuum cleaner to remove the dirt. You may also want to give the carpets and mats a wash to have them looking fresh and dirt-free.
Wash the tires – Once you are done with the inside, you can start cleaning the exterior of your car. When cleaning the exterior, people often tend to clean the body and ignore the wheels. Use non-acidic cleaners to wash the tires. You might need a stiff brush to clean stubborn grime. Clean tires will make your vehicle truly look brand new.
Hand wash the body – Use a gentle cleanser and wash the body to leave it gleaming. A good carwash solution will clean your car without adversely affecting the paint. Once you are done washing, use a rubber squeegee to take off excess water. Next, use a mild cleaner and a microfiber cloth to clean the windows and the windshield.
